Listen to the Rhythm and the Beat...
At the bottom of this page is a "Juke Box" link to a collection of different rhythms from all over the world. Some of the musicians use very simple instruments and some use very sophisticated ones; most of the rhythms are created using percussion instruments--but you may hear other instruments too. Many styles of music are included.

What To Do!
1. Listen! Try to identify the sounds you hear.
2. Next, add your own "sounds" to the rhythms. You can tap a beat on your desk, clap, or use words in rhythm. Make sure you are adding something that goes with the rhythm.
3. Using paper and markers, try to capture a doodle picture of the rhythms and sounds you hear.
4. Or, maybe the music makes you think of a place, an animal, a feeling. Describe the images you see in your mind.
